I’m looking into replacing the exhaust on my K1500 with a 6.5L TD. I’ve seen everything from stainless steel to aluminized steel, 3”, 3.5” 4” or any combination of the dimensions and I’m lost. I’ve looked at the web pages for Health, Kennedy, SS Diesel and Diamond Eye. I’d like to go with something that sounds good on the truck….
I’m looking for input on exhaust systems. Which metal is better stainless steel or aluminized steel, and why? Does it make a difference if the pipe is one diameter the entire length (I’ve seen systems with step-up/step-down pipes)? Do I need to have a cat and/or muffler, and will this affect the sound? Any and all info is appreciated….

Stainless steel will out last aluminized steel. Also the cost is almost double.

All kits come with a 3in down pipe, thats all that really fits on these trucks. I prefer a 4in system after that, best sound and performance IMHO.

I run a diamond eye turbo back 4in with straight through muffler, aluminized. Its great i love it and it sounds sweet! Very easy to install.

I only paid $260 shipped to my door, well worth it. I got it from performancetruckproducts.com

Jorge, That's the exhaust I was looking at, but I'm having trouble finding that system for the K1500.

Search alligator performance.
The system offered fits all pick-ups,it just has to be custom fitted for length by cutting and placement of the extension pipe.mine fit best behind the muffler rather than in front like most others.

Choose a k3500 instead of the k1500-something wrong with how they direct you.

All the systems are the same they interchange between the 1500, 2500 and 3500. 2 and 4 wheel drive.

I got mine from performancetruckproducts.com For only $260 shipped. No one else sells it for that cheap.

I did go with the Diamond Eye Exhaust. I did have to make some bracket ajustments for my K1500, but it sounds great. Thanks for the info.
