I have a rule. Buy a new vehicle every ten years. Well by beloved 03 Duramax will hit 10yrs at the end of this year. Time to get a new one. I tow a 6K lb camper. It will be 4x4 extended cab. Since I have not looked at a truck in 10 yrs. I have very little knowledge on the trucks. Any thing I should look out for. Should I look at the 2012 and the 2013. Any known problems with the 2012?
A loaded question I know. What options do I need, what options to say no to?

For what its worth - I love my 2009, and no exhaust fluid to freeze up here in the Great White Northland.

If you are shopping new, then its a moot point. Have fun!

Agreed, no DEF is a plus if your in a cold climate. Even though in the new big trucks (tractors) the DEF tank is designed to thaw out from the bottom then up, its still a hassel. I don't know if this system is the same in duramax's as it is with semis though
