Local NAPA couldn't get the dowel pins that key the heads to the block. Anyone know of a source/Pn?

Thanks,

Jim

I lost one when I was replacing my head gasket last summer. The machine shop that cleaned up the head had a bunch of sizes, but not the exact one. I had to grind the slot a little bit to make it fit, but it went in no problem. Got any machine shops close by?

I found a lot of stuff for my build here, they are good at helping on the phone also...

Jim

The number 12558081 mentioned by Racer is the same number I have on my list.

I post that number along with another hard to find part ## in the tech forum in the hard to find parts list.

Your local Ma General shop should have these dowel sleaves. if not they can get them in a short.

The other part is the oil pump drive shaft plastic retainer.(coupler)

Cylinder head dowel sleaves (GM calls them dowel pins) #12558081
Oil pump to shaft plastic coupler #477249

If all else fails you could try a junk yard. Is that oil pump shaft coupler really necessary? I pulled my cam driven vacuum pump and I don't remember seeing one on the shaft. I have been running without one and so far no problems. I have oil pressure. Any comments? Greg :)

The drive coupler is more for ease of assembly I think, the shaft can't get out of line without it.
