View Full Version : Higher Idle Speed Related to Code 1216?

I keep getting a code 1216 I'm trying to troubleshoot. I've already changed the FSD to no avail.

In doing so, one thing I've noticed is my idle speed seems on the higher side - even with a warm engine the lowest it seems to idle is around 700 rpm. It is also not as smooth. I've searched and it seems like it should be around 650 rpm max., unless specs. changed for later years (mine is a 98).

Also, this is warranty replacement pump, with about 20K on it. The fuel solenoid repsonse time seems generally long - it seems to run around 2.0 ms. Could this be causing/related to the higher idle?

Last, I've read on another forum where some have moved (adjusted) the optical endcoder slightly (usually in a quest for tweaking for slightly more performance) and it will affect idle speed/fuel rate somewhat. I'm wondering if my pump could benefit from such a tweak (smooth things out)?

Thanks in advance. Joe.
