I have a 96 6.5 GMC 1500 with a 4l80e trans. It seems that after my truck sets overnight that it will start just fine then run a few seconds then it dies. If I crank it for 15 sec. then wait 1 minute, crank another 15 sec. wait another minute and crank it again it will usually start during the second or third crank session and then seems to run just fine. To me it acts like it's out of fuel briefly, or getting air into the system somehow. If that is the case where do I look to find out how the air is getting into the system. I haven't noticed it leaking any fuel or notice any ususally strong fuel smells that might indicate a leak.
Thanks.

Is your lift pump working?

Well it appears to be. At least I can hear it running. However it does seem to be running longer than I remember. Maybe as long as a minute.

I would verify that the LP is working and then check the filter manager for signs of leaking.

Your problem sounds a lot like the fuel heater or water in fuel sensor seals are leaking while sitting.

Thanks racer55 I'll do that.
