View Full Version : Can I fix bent Rad fins?

Hi i was looking at my rad the other day and noticed a considerable amount of fins were bent on it..is it possible to straighten them myself? what works best? any experiences bad or good? all would be appreciated!

Grind down a Feeler gage to fit in slot between fins

Slide in and straighten, It takes some time,
but it works....( I assume radiator has been removed...

don't know if anybody makes them let alone sells them but my dad used to have what was called a radiator comb that had four sides and each side had different spacing for different widths of fins it looked like a comb and you just ran it up and down the rad and presto just like new. i haven't seen it in years and don't know what ever happened to it but i sure could have used it a time or 2. my dad used to work for pontiac back in the 40's to 60's and some of the snap-on tools he has the snap-on man has never even seen or knows what they do.
