Question on rear brake shoes?

I am having trouble after changing rear brake shoes on my '97 K2500 6.5L. I adjusted 30 clicks out and the passangers side is getting very hot (began smoking). I backed adjuster out completely and still gets hot. I searched for brakes and read a post from 2003 that talks about primary and secondary shoes. Evidently there is one shoe that goes forward and one rearward. I didn't know there was a difference. I fear that I have the screwed up. Can someone explain the difference and how to correctly install them?

In pretty simple terms Chris...

The Shoe with more Brake Lining material goes toward the rear.

yep,probably what happened is you have both longs on that side ,usually if that happens they tend to lock up.
