ECM Failed

[Freightliner3]

Check Engine Light -P0601 code. I drove the truck a few miles after I deleted
the code. Then when I tried to start the truck, its was dead. The radio and all the lights worked. I then checked the fuses and tested the relays. Had the trucked hauled to the Chevrolet garage. They thought the problem was related to the key tumbler. Turned out to be a short in the ECM.

that's an unusual component failure. what did they nick you for to replace that? did you get the core, or did they keep it?

I would suggest checking all of the wiring. Pull the LH wheel liner and make sure nothing rubbed through. I've seen where the harness loom was worn flat and through until it got to a wire and it had no intentions of stopping there. Found this during a head gasket job. This particular truck was running just fine otherwise.
