turbo question.

The early 6.2s have tons of compression, and I've heard people install turbos to them. On the 6.5s I'm assuming the compression ratio is reduced via larger dishing to the piston tops? Will an early 6.2 take the added pressure of a turbo without blowing out the head gaskets?
Also, if more power than a normally aspirated early 6.2 is desired, will an early 6.5 produce more power, (turboed), without a computer? Can a 6.5 run with a mechanical IP?

If you do some research the 6.2 and early 6.5 had about the same compression. IMHO...both engines (as with most all diesels) like a turbo or some sort of forced induction. Just watch your EGTs and find out what you particular application needs for boost. HIGH boost will need other major modifications. I just had person in my shop that has a 1985 GMC with 360K miles on the 6.2...he thought it was getting LOW compression so he fixed the problem by putting a turbo on it....!
