Hi,

I bought a 2006 3/4 ext cab duramax 2 days ago. LS trim (which means not much trim at all!!), but it is a nice running truck and I'm getting to know it.

I would like to decode the glove box sticker to see what exact options I have on the truck.

Or would a vin search do that also? Is that available on this forum?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
walt z.

Hi again,

In looking further here, I saw others having the VIN being checked out. Could I get that done also?

Thanks again for your help.

Welcome aboard!

The VIN is the best way to get all the answers. You could decode the RPO codes, but that can take forever, and isn't all that accurate without the year model code book. The RPO codes are recycled over the years. For example, G80 is the code for the current Eaton Gov-Loc option for the rear axle. It was also the RPO code for 1980 limited slip axle. The same goes for many other options, and some of them are not related to one another at all. They are most accurate within the specific chassis (tooling) series.

To more easily get you to the right resource, you should post this question in the appropriate forum, the Duramax Forum in this case. Post with a topic of "VIN Check Please", and post the VIN in the post comment. We have a few fine gentlemen who will be along with the info you need. Be patient, as they have lives outside the internet, and sometimes take a while to respond.

This forum, the General Diesel forum, is for Diesel topics that don't really fit into the categorical forums. Your question is specific to a late model Duramax engine vehicle, and will be better served there.
