I am wanting to replace a 1996 6.5 with broken crank with a 6.5 from a 1994. Will I have any compatibility issues? Both trucks are complete but donor has bad auto tranny, and 1996 is manual.

The '93s were still MFI. In '94 they switched to EFI, but then they made changes to the EFI in '96. So the '94 and '95 EFI is different from the '96 up EFI. I know in '94/'95 you could swap chips where '96 up you have to swap the whole ECM.

As such, the engine itself is the same. But you're going to have to swap accessories from the '96 engine over to the '94 to make it work in your truck. I've got a '93, so hopefully someone else will chime in with what the specific parts may be.

Don't forget to install a pilot bushing or pilot bearing (which ever you choose) into the back of the donor motor crankshaft. The automatic donor motor will not have the bushing necessary to support the manual trans front shaft in the 96 truck.

Good luck
