Good morning, I'm looking at a 1996 2500 4x4 suburban 6.5 td, and a 2004 caddy escalade esv awd. dont know anthing about the burb but the caddy has KNP- trans cooler, G69- load leveling susp, Z82 trailer equip, and Vr4- weight dist. platform. After 2006 Z82 says HD trailering equip (not just trailering equip.) and usually also has Z85 handleing/trailering susp. package. kinda of confusing! Is there a post that explains all this? Thanks:

The tow ratings for each vehicle will reveal a lot about their capabilities. I have the pickup specs, but not the Suburban/Escalade specs.

In general, the 1996 2500 Sub should already have a 2" receiver for use with a load leveling hitch and it should have a transmission cooler.

Tow ratings are based in part on the engine/trans combination, braking system, and chassis & suspension. You didn't mention what sort of load you're considering, but that might be a factor in your decision between the two vehicles.
