Thinking about buying a 6.5

Since I totaled my 2007 lbz (sad day) and since I'm sick of vehicle payments im considering just buying an older pick up with cash from my insurance money. I would buy a 1500 but its a possibility I may put a plow on it. What is the general life expentancy of the 6.5? Most I've seen have around 150k or higher. Thanks all.

Closing in on 175K with mine - no issues. I do plan on going over mine once the weather warms up. Replace injectors and glow plugs at the least. Take a look at the turbo. I'd really like to pull the engine and take a look at the block, but I'm not sure I'll have time to do anything that extensive. Hope it doesn't come back to bite me.

Truth is, a 6.5 will generally go 200k with ease.

After 200K things like head gasket failures and such start becoming more common.

Injectors are good for about 100k with reasonable care (fresh fuel filters and such)

PMD boxes are an expected failure prone item that one should carry as a spare.

I have ran two 94 Burbs past 200k. The one lost a head gasket at 230k and we yanked it and overhauled the engine, and the other one gave up at 270k

If you do your own wrenching and don't mind the loss of power then find the nicest body with all the trimmings you like.
Don't worry about the rest to much because it can all be fixed for less than the Dmax truck you had.

I got a 95 and it's at 230k now, bought it new. Planning on running it to 300k:D
