Gentlemen,
Looking to replace my rotted out head pipe on my 83 C-30, 6.2. Years ago I mounted a Holmes 440 winch to my truck, and the PTO location necessitated the removal of the LHS dual exhaust system. I made my own Y-pipe, that began life as a single exhaust pipe for what I thought was a late 80s C-30 with a 6.2. However I can't seem to find any reference to this pipe on the net. I've got an appointment with a muffler shop, but was curious if anyone has seen these trucks with a single exhaust system Thanx for your input.

I don't think I've ever seen a 6.2 with a single exhaust unless someone put a turbo on it.

I've found that a 93 truck, W/6.2 did come with a single system. But there's some controversy about whether it was a "Y" pipe, or 2 individual pipes running the RHS into a muffler with a double inlet, and single outlet.
I've looked up the Walker application chart, and found they "do" list a Y pipe for the 6.2, (40582) in 93, but I'm not sure if the exhaust manifolds on my 83 are an exact match. I was looking for an idea of what to expect for a price quote from the muffler shop. Walker lists the pipe for less than $70, but I would be elated if the shop could make one for $200, (or so). Am I out in left field, or what?

I might have what you need... my 91 k2500 had a 6.2 with single exhaust.. it leaves the mannies and join on the PS then back a few feet.. I can post a pic if needed..

Thanx Chris, for the reply. I'm curious if your manifolds exit like mine.
My drivers side dumps straight down "almost" at the back of the manifold.
My pass. side exits at the extreme rear of the manifold, on an angle of approx. 45*, down. What are the odds of GM using the same manifolds for all 6.2s. (highly unlikely).

Yea, not much of a chance I guess....

wow! that pipe looks "close" to the one I fabbed about 15 yrs ago. The only difference might be the drivers side down pipe bottom section, seems to be angled slightly towards the rear, where mine is practically straight down. Might have some possibilities Chris. Thanx again for taking the time. Joe
