Installing new Pistons with Rings

I have new Mahle pistons with the rings installed already on the piston. Do I need to remove every ring, insert the ring into the cylinder, check for proper end gap, then reinstall the rings back onto the piston?

Yes, they should be removed and gapped. The rings should have come as sets, individually packaged. Sounds like they are used, or perhaps from an abandoned build.
