Well, I did what I could to hopefully avoid what appears to be the inevitable, but my 2002 LB7 injectors went to hell (93k miles). Aside from the typical symptoms of bad injectors, the shop tells me the everything is rusted and shot (Chicago truck for one year). They're quoting me two prices, one for OEM and the other from "their parts dealer". Here's the quote:

OEM, Shop Parts dealer
8 injectors: $3200, $2860
2 return fuel lines: $168, $168
8 fuel lines: $927, $732
O rings: $49, $49
Return line gasket: $21, $21
valve cover gasket: $130, $130
Labor ($95/hr): $950, $950

Total (before tax): $5445, $4910

So, bottom line: Is this in the ball park?

OEM or their parts?

Is there anything else I should be doing while they're in there?

Thanks in advance. JIM

Jim,
Please check with John Kennedy. (Kennedy Diesel) He is a frequent contributor here.
He can tell you if the pricing looks right. I'm sure he will have some comments on what might be missing, etc.
Great guy, trust him!
Dave

Those prices are consistent with what was charged on my 2003 Duramax. It had two injector jobs.....one at 65000 one at 90000 and was heading towards another at 12000. Sold the truck which I loved otherwise. The first was handled under warranty around 2007 and GM paid half on the second.

You would not need return lines of VC gaskets

8 inj
8 supply lines
Return line seals
2 thermostats
Coolant
Fuel filter
Tube of sealant

Pretty much covers it excluding incidentals.

The blue smoke bug has been hitting the LB7's hard. We have some revised injectors going into service that hope to eliminate this, but only time will tell. I will not be confident until we see them run 200k without issue.
