Hi I'm new here I have been a member on dieselplace sence 2009 same screen name as on here. My name is mike my daily driver is a 1987 gmc jimmy v1500 stock 6.2 stock 700r4. I bought it with 40k on it and now have 120k it's been real good to me.

Anyway I have been having a intermitent problem where the engine speeds up (sometimes) taking left turns. I replaced the fuel tank and pickup the fuel lines lift pump and filter with a new racor marine style filter setup.

I disconnected the tps sensor/ switch and it hasn't "sped up" on me for the past 2 days. Now I realise the the tps as a switch only controls lockup but how do I test this system?

Welcome.

Is the engine speeding up? Or, is the speed up related to the TC lock/unlock?

Activation of the emissions control system (EGR) could be related to the TPS, but I don't remember the details. If this is happening it could affect engine power when EGR is activated. Jim

I no longer have the egr I switched to a j code manifold. It's speeding up I could be going 60 on the highway hit a slight left or leaving a parking lot at 3 mph.

I took the sensor/switch off completly and this is day 3 it hasn't done it.
