How is the GP system fused or protected in our 6.2's? I've never had trouble with my systems all of these years so I've never really thought about it until now...I'm adding a manual push button with the Ford solenoid to the '86. Running the heavy gauge wire from the existing controller to the new solenoid and started getting pondering if I need to fuse it.

The wires that feed each glow plug are fusible, and will melt if the short.

You could fuse the primary side of the Solenoid, but the heavy side pulls some serious amps.

So where does the power wire come from that feeds our GP controllers? Is it not fused?

Howdy
My 86 k5 had a fusible link that was in the feed side. I replaced with a 50AMP slow reaction circuit breaker. The CB's original purpose was for two way radio use and is very reliable.
The fusible links were fine on mine but I was running all new wire and wanted to eliminate splices.
Good luck!
