It feels like the power of my truck is not that good. Its a 2006 Duramax LLY engine. When I did the last service they told me to replace the air filter soon. I need get good power without affecting the fuel consumption. Mostly I used to buy Chevy Duramax parts (https://www.bcdiesel.ca/en/20045-2006-gm-66l-lly) from BC Diesel website. I found some models here. Can you please help me to choose the appropriate one

Welcome aboard!

If you've lost power, it isn't due to the air filter, unless it's well past due for replacement. The 2006+ air filter system is the best available. If a service tech suggests it needs replacement, start there. An OEM or comparable element is as good as it gets. Also note, although your engine may be an "LLY" according to the VIN (2), the 2006 model year LLY is actually a detuned LBZ in every way but the programming. Previous year LLY's are very different. Contact John Kennedy (http://www.kennedydiesel.com) for the best economy and power options available.

Donaldson filters are the best I have used. If you cant find one local, probably a truck parts supply, Kennedy carries them now.

With the 2006-2010 trucks I keep the intake stock. The best gains are in the ECM programming. That is how I run my LBZ. Exhaust is definitely not a bad idea though. Let me know if I can help with either.

The 2006+ air filter system is the best available. Well that answers my question. I was looking in to a cold air intake from snake river like I had on my LB7. I have a new 4" exhaust coming this week. Bye Bye cat. I hopefully that helps with MPG. My 02 LB7 was getting 12-14 hauling a 3700lb camper the 06 3500 LLy gets 10 or less doing the same.

What's the part number for a Donaldson filter? The wix flows pretty good. I think it's 960cfm.

Donaldson filters for my GMC 2006 K3500
oil P550518
air P610875
fuel P550833
trans P550606

Probably not the easiest to find. Look for a truck parts store or John Kennedy has them and he is a supporter of this site.

Thanks I don't know I have a local supplier. If not Kennedy is a great person to deal with. I've ordered a lift pump and mega filter from him. I transferred the lift pump and soon the mega filter to my 06 lly. I use a cat filter as primary. I have the spin on filter coming for the tranny.

I’ve seen too many people who have no concept of maintenance. It’s entirely possible that the air filter is ten years old. ;)

I have an old habit of using a sharpie
and putting date and miles on filters when I change them. Then log it in the back of the manual.

CAT 1R-0749 crosses to a Donaldson P551311
I have one of those in the left wheel well as a primary.

Yep. We’re of a similar bent. ;)

I would think one of John Kennedy's reprogramed ECM's would be the ticket. But that is jus t a guess. Try Kennedy's web site you might get the info there.
