6.5 turbo auto trans issue

Hi. I just bought a 94 6.5 turbo diesel auto dually 3500.
If i drive normal, taking off slow the tranny shifts perfect no noise or anything. If i take off quickly it wont leave 2nd gear?
The guy i got it from said to shut it off, wait about 2 minutes and take off slowly until it shifts. Obviously i want to be able to take off with power as i need to pull my 5th wheel. Fluid is full and clean. Any ideas? could it be the engine computer? it has 247k on it

Any codes showing ???

If not it may be an issue with the 2-3 shift solenoid

The solenoid may be stick or the filter screen is nearly plugged.

The shift solenoids are not a real big issue but do go south once in a while.

If there are other troubles usually there will be codes showing (SES LIGHT)
