Quality Mounts To Help Get Your Project Started

Aside from having the information you need to complete a Duramax conversion, having a ready-made and quality set of conversion mounts will go a long way to help get your project underway. GM changed the motor mount configuration beginning with the 1999-2007 body style trucks - producing an asymmetrical positioning on the engine, meaning one mount is further ahead of the other side. Not only are the Duramax factory motor mounts positioned asymmetrically on the engine, but they are also very different when compared to earlier GM full-size trucks and SUVs. The professionally produced generation II mounts shown here solve that problem, making it possible to install a new Duramax 6600 diesel engine into an early 1980s to late 1990s GM full-size.
Update: 2/2025 - A question came up recently about whether the swap mounts we offer will fit the newest version of Duramax 6600 - the L5P. As it turns out, the LB7, LLY, LBZ, LML and LMM (2001 up to the 2016 model year engines - essentially all but the L5P which first appeared in the 2017 model year GM trucks) utilize the same engine mounting dimensions and bolt patterns. The L5P block casting, on the other hand, was largely redesigned to include new engine mount locations/bolt patterns on the block. We're working on offering an updated mount design for the L5P/GMT-400 swap (for the 1988-1998 body style). Should have the mounts available later this spring.
In addition, we've seen that, through the years, GM Powertrain added more and more emissions-related components to the top of the engine. The L5P is the pinnacle of that trend. To maintain adequate hood clearance in a GMT-400 body style truck swap, a cowl induction hood and/or a body lift will be necessary. I'll have more information on all this as soon as I get my hands on an L5P. In the meantime...
