So I have a 1985 6.2l diesel Silverado k10. And I’ve been having this issue for a while now to where it gets into the 3rd gear before overdrive in my transmission which is a 700r4, the truck will be running and get close to around 45mph or maybe even slower then the truck will just die. I don’t know if it is a vacuum problem with the transmission or engine or a fuel pressure problem. I would be grateful if anyone had any information on how to possibly fix this issue!

Hello

Welcome to TDP :):):D:D:):)

Fuel starvation likely

When was filter last changed ????

Check lift pump for delivery

Unhook pink or red wire (large) on injection pump.

Unhook fuel line that feeds the filter from the fuel pump on the engine and direct it into a can.

Get helper to crank engine ad watch fuel delivery.

No fuel...bad pump

Good fuel delivery ...changed filter

After filter change

Keep wire off IP and open air bleeder on filter and crank until air free fuel comes out.

Close bleeder
Hook up wire on IP

Start as normal

Engine may run rough or surge a bit until any air purges.

Good to go..

I have already replaced both the filter and the lift pump and have the same issue

Get a piece of clear plastic tubing in the fuel return line and route it up by the wipers (Temp for testing) and run the beast.

Watch for signs to air bubble streams coming through.

If you are getting air then either your main line between the tank and the lift pump has a hole or the in tank equipment (Sock and such) has issues.

Get a low pressure gauge between the filters and the injection pump and route it so you can see it, run the rig and see wasssssup.

When the truck dies, will it restart easily, or does it require much cranking ?????????
