I'm currently in slave lake AB doing a project here for the winter,
I haven't been happy with this engine's performance in my 99 c2500 burban,.
so poking around has led me to the stepper motor, it does'nt move, so on the bench i put power to the pins, it hiccups slightly in one direction but not the other. Somebody had messed with this stepper and used it to wedge the pump advance arm/lever into one spot.
I had my suspicions last summer when a friend tried to set the timing with his fancy tech computer, and every time the engine had a coniption and we'd cancel the command. It has never set an SES code. It does now i have the stepper unhooked, it fires up fine, i can move the advance manually and it definitely makes a huge difference. The engine does not sound over advanced or retarded, just sounds ok with stepper off

Does anyone have a good stepper motor they would part with?

thanks

Glad you got the issue fixed.

Generally most folks are not going to get that far into the injection on these..

(Take pump to inj shop and have it rebuilt is the usual action)

Sorry you got such limited response, but only a few even know what/where the stepper is located.

Be safe...stay warm
