Howdy
Has anyone ever swapped a GMT400 body onto a pre-1988 solid axle frame/drivertrain?
My 1986 M1009 is getting pretty rusty and the option of "fixing" the rust isn't really an option. My drivetrain is very solid and I am intimate with it, so it would be nice to keep it with an upgrade to the newer body and some comforts.
Any Ideas?
Thanks!

It should be doable, people put any kind of bodies on 4x4 frames.
Make mounts and wiring, the two biggest hassles

I've seen quite a few solid axle swaps in the GMT-400 trucks, like this one belonging to Alaskan member Hank S.
