I have a 1984 c30 I done a 6.5 Td swap on new starter and new batteries I can turn engine over with breaker bar no issues but when I attempt to crank it drags very slowly I’ve checked all my connections the only thing I haven’t checked is the starter between engine block to make sure it’s clean any advice would be greatly appreciated

Is the nose brace on the starter?

Mine did that about 5 years ago. Using an AC Delco Starter solved it.

Howdy
The starter should be clean between the block.
NEW bolts used and torqued to spec.
Make sure the nose bracket is in place and TIGHT.
Check ALL your cables. IMHO....If they are old at all, Replace with heavy gauge welding cable and industrial electrical grade crimp ends.
Battery and ground connections need to be checked.
The quality of the starter can also be a problem, NEW AC Delco is what I have the best luck with. expensive....but they work.
Hope this helps!
