View Full Version : Having throuble sizing an intercooler.

It seems the prepackaged ICs available are both undersized and installed in the wrong location. With the million or so available IC cores how do I size one properly?

I am reasonably sure I could fit this between by AC condensor and my radiator, is it large enough, provide enough flow?

The conctruction quality looks much better on this one, speced at 650 HP.

I think you would need to determine the HP and CFM ratings for these two ICs and compare those figures to the ratings of the ICs that are in use on this forum before you could make a final decision...IMHO.

As I understand about 800 CFM is required for most 6.5 applications. Most of the ICs I find do have a CFM rating and associated pressure drop but how do you gauge the cooling efficiency?

I could easily have a 10" square tube that flowed 20,000 CFM but wouldn't cool the air charge down 5 degrees. I guess this is where I am stuck.

How is the D-Max IC constructed? What size and tube design?

An I/C capable off flowing the proper amount off air with a resonable pressure drop will have the cappacity to cool down the charge air enough.
The cooling is very much depending on temperature and mass off air you pull through it.
