Howdy
My daughters 1998 6.5 suburban is on its last legs. She is considering the mid size GM trucks with the Duramax 2.8. Probably a 2018-19 model Z71 or ZR2

Any and all info, problems, MPG and expectations would be great.

Thanks!!!!

Hi, We have a 2017 Colorado Diesel Crew cab short bed pickup.
28,000 miles and absolutely no problems.
We tow a camper that weighs 2,000 lbs. Plus a bed full of stuff another 1,000 lbs.
Can get 25 mpg towing that. It pulls the camper up mountains like it isn't even there.
I have talked to other owners that tow 24 ft. and larger trailers weighing up to 7,700 lbs and they say that their trucks handle it as well as any full size 1/2 ton truck would.
We get 27 mpg around town/city. And can get 36 mpg on hwy, cruising at 55 to 60 mph.
Cruising at 70+ mph we get 30 to 32 with no problem.
We love this truck. Hope that answers your questions.

Sounds great. I think her main reason for liking the diesel is the efficiency of them. She is an engineer.....and she grew up with diesel in her blood.
Thanks for the real world info!

You're very welcome.
Let us know if she goes with a Duramax, and if she does please let us know how she likes it.
