Newbie here, and tried searching to no avail.
1995 GMC Sierra 3500 6.5 diesel turbo.

1 Standing at the front bumper, the cooling fan blows TO YOU, that is the air blows from the engine thru the grill to the bumper/?????? Am I crazy? or what, I'm closer to 82 than 81 and have never seen that; for the time being, I believe something is wrong, like maybe wrong fan with blades turned/slanted backwards??????

2 Standing at the front bumper, which way does the engine rotate?

Thanks,

LarryR

Welcome to TDP

Well now....THE FAN IS SUPPOSED TO SUCK OK :D

A couple things come to mind.

Serpentine belt not installed correctly (Not likely....may not be possible)

Someone installed a fan blade for a V belt driven setup.

A serpentine belt system turns the fan backwards from the crank rotation....

Get a helper to bump the starter while you watch the rotation of the fan.....

BE SAFE AND KEEP AWAY FROM THE BLADE

I suspect someone put the wrong blade on OR installed it backwards...

Here is a picture of an actual factory type 6.5 diesel fan looking at the blade from the engine side (Toward radiator)
Compare this to yours..

If memory serves me...there is a ROTATION ARROW on these blades

Looking from the front AT THE TRUCK the fan SHOULD rotate COUNTER CLOCKWISE

Let us know what you find....
