Howdy
Its been awhile since I've posted, maybe that's a good thing, meaning my diesels have been nice to me!
....Until 2 months ago....
1996 1ton, 225,000miles when I bought it with its second engine(unknown history) started to consume anti-freeze. I have experience with this issue and know the this is most likely a terminal disease. I was forced to REALLY accept this yesterday when I found much coolant in my oil.
Anyways...I'm going to drive the truck until the engine decides otherwise and then replace the motor.

Questions-

Currently, who are some of the better sources for a long block?

Are stud-girdles still recommended?

Any other new tech out there for engine longevity?

Thanks!!!!

The options are going to depend on budget, splayed main caps are a much better way to go than a girdle.

Avoid at all cost, check the web for Bostic reviews. I can get new crates direct from GEP.

You should check with Kennedy and see what he can provide as well.

You're in the business of selling engines and are recommending one of the competition. Character. Scarce on the ground these days.

JK is a friend and he is a vendor here as well as other forums, I don't know if JK is still getting anything from GEP or not but I in now way want to step on anyone's toes..

I am more specialized in building them stronger than they come from the manufacture more than just selling crate motors.. I build 6x more than I sell in the crate..

I talked with John. He is not getting any GEP blocks.
