Hi all,

Newb from the UK here. I've not long bought a 92 GMC 6.2 NA motorhome apparently its RHD from the coachbuilder! I'm currently trying to identify a few bits on this truck and have found this floating in the engine bay apparently doing nothing and its driving me a bit mad. Can you guru's help??

Can you tell I haven't used a forum in years? Unsure as to why 6 of the same pics have loaded. To be clear the gizmo I am referring to is the small square looking thing. So far I've king of narrowed it down to an EGR vacuum solenoid of some kind but cannot be sure with all the info floating about in the interweb. It has 2 blade type electrical connectors and 2 vacuum ports.

Welcome to TDP

That device is an odd item.....EGR is /was used on 1/2 ton models of the 6.2 (At least in the States) Being right close to the Power steering reservoir is an odd place ..

Where do the hoses connect....Any wires laying about with a plug that might connect ...Maybe give us a clue as to what it is.....

What transmission is in the vehicle ???

Can you grab some pics from some different angles....Might help ID the part????

Welcome aboard!

Look for a slot/tab on the factory air cleaner housing, and an EGR valve inside (pod thing sticking up in the middle of the manifold). If it has these, that is the solenoid that passes vacuum through the air cleaner housing to the valve. While EGR equipment was limited to only light duty (1/2 ton) models in the states, there's no telling what a coach upfitter may have used in other countries, or if that engine (and/or accessories/parts) was original.

Come to think of it, it could also be a cruise control cutoff. The 1992 and earlier cab/chassis/cutoffs still used vacuum operated cruise.
