Had a quick question on adding a manual button to activate the glow plugs on our '84 6.2L. It still has all of the stock '84 controller and relay in place. I want to just abandon the glow controller in the cylinder head and use a manual button. Can I leave everything as-is and then just add a button with one side going to a keyed 12V source and the other side of the button going to the S terminal on the relay? Do I need to run a ground wire from the I terminal on the relay to ground as well? I'm currently running AC Delco 60G glow plugs as well.

Thanks.

You can ignore the controller (the temperature inhibit switch). Leave it alone. The relay is just a relay. It doesn't need an additional ground. Apply 12V to the small pole, and it should send power to the plugs, as well as light the GP lamp.
