1994 Chevy K1500 6:5l TD

Will not start !!
When cranking, sometimes no reaction, just dead.
Sometimes comes to live fractions of second.

New OPS, liftpump circuit rebuilt with reley and pushbutton for test.
FO-pressure at top of FO-filter 5 psi both with testbutton and at cranking.
New FO-filter.
New Fuel Pump. Driver. Relocated to top of left wheelhouse and provided with cooler.
New Stop Solenoid.

Do I have a faulty injection pump ???

Have you loosened injector lines to see if you are getting pressure to the injectors?

Glow plug system

Voltage to the plugs ???
Plugs actually getting red hot ???
Glow plug controller working ???
Driver side plugs are easy to reach
Passenger side can be accessed by removing the RH front tire/wheel and the rubber splash flap.
All plugs easy accept #8

Do not worry about #8

Make sure you have power to the glow plugs and then if you do, remove the plugs and check to see of they get Red hot....

Could be a failed controller or the plugs and maybe ?????

See what you have.....

Is there blue/white smoke coming out the tail pipe ?????

These engines need glow plugs to fire up.

DO NOT USE STARTING FLUID

Glowplugs OK.
Some start attemps engine revs up fraction of seconds then - dead.
Some start attemps there is no reaction at all - dead.
Like there should be a restriction in fuel (-supply)

Check the fuel shutoff solenoid (Tall silver unit on the top of the injection pump)
Make sure it makes a good solid click sound when the key is turn on...Get a helper to run the ignition key so you can listen under the hood.

Check fuel delivery to the injection pump (Rubber hose by the shutoff solenoid)

Make sure you have a good stream of fuel flowing out of that hose..... If need be add an extension to aim it in a container...Turn on the key and the fuel should flow freely....Use you test button.

Possible failed solenoid or plugged hose to the IP

Another check

Pull out some of the LH glow plugs and spin the engine over.....Fuel mist should really fog out of the glow plug holes.......

HEAT...FUEL and it should run.....One is lacking.....

Let us know

Case solved !!
It was bad connection in cableplug to the shut off solenoid.
Replaced the plug and now OK.
I was close to remove the pump.
Puuh !!
