I have a L014 (read from the top of the block on the passenger side behind the head) block that was removed from my 95 Surburban and I don't know if is the original or not. Does anybody know if this is a revised casting block?

That's a date code for the casting. It should mean that it was cast on December 1, 1994. The casting number is on the other side from where you read this number.

I'll bet it's a '929 cast block.

Yup, you're right. The number casted the other side ends in "929". I was hoping that this was warrantied an replaced with an updated casting block before I purchased it but no such luck.

Nothing wrong with that casting. It's pretty much the same as a 599 block, because it doesn't have the piston oil spray coolers. I've got one that came out of my 95 burb, and it wasn't cracked. They make a great builder.
