What compression should the cylinders have for good cold starting? Dealer says mine is hard starting because it has only 300lbs in some cylinders.
thanks Viv

thanks Viv I think 370 is recommended minimum, with 400-440 preferred. be careful about the stealer - mine had botched the IP replacement causing hard start. when the IP finally failed again they tried to tell me that GM IP warranty would not apply cuz my compression was below minimum. GM is checking compression ( at your cost ) before they approve the IP warranty. they told me that a comp test showed 4 @300, 2@320, and 2@340. not liking the IP warranty refusal, nor the threat of needing a new engine, i went to another dealer who does more diesel service...2nd comp test was 8 @ 400-440. got my new IP on warranty too. maybe worth it to get a 2nd opinion.
