Regarding the popping noise in 5th gear :mad: , could I speak directly to you about it? I was going to tear into my transmission this weekend but I definitly want to avoid doing that if it's one of the other problems you mentioned. If it is the input shaft bearing then the trans has to come out anyways. If it is the rear clutches then just pull the rear dif pan and a bunch of metalic black oil will come out. If it is 5th gear then it is as you say bolted to the rear of the 4speed -- at least it is in the 1993 models./ Idid take my trans out because I thought it was fifth gear! I had a trans shop check it out and they said it was as good as new.
