Does anyone know if there is a good technical refrence book for the 6.5 td. The Hayne's that is available at the local parts store would make a good fire starter, but is worthless as a refrence book. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Besides the GM manuals GM Product Service Training issues a book ths those who complete a GM Training Course.
The # for the 6.2 is 16015.05-1c. I do not know if you could order the equivalent for the 6.5 from a dealer but if so it is worth the effert. This book goes into great detail, all specs, and even down to complete rebuild of the pump.
Good Luck

THe GM manuals are pretty good. Pricy though. I am trading my truck tomorrow and won't need them anymore. I suppose I would sell them. Mine are for a 1997 model.

www.helminc.com (http://www.helminc.com)
order online OEM manuals. 96' truck is two books about 2"thick each, covers everything. What it doesn't cover you can find on the Diesel Page.
good luck

My '95 came with two big books and two small books from Helm's. These are the same books we use at work and they have everything from bumper to bumper. I don't think you can get one from GM. I think these are autherized by GM. I paid $120.

My books are about 2-3" thick each. One covers everything mechanical and the other is everything electrical. They are pretty good. SOme of the stuff requires you to have access to GM factory tools. I think they cost me about $350. They paid for themselves quickly though.
