Anyone have information on code C0472. My books do not show this code #. I think it has to do with the steering.

Hi Howie,
Code C0472 is for low voltage from the steering wheel speed sensor.
You need to replace the sensor located at the base of the steering column.
It is easy to replace, only need a 15 mm wrench to undo the steering shaft and maybe a small pick to pry it out of the holder and then unplug the connector. There is foam tape wrapped around the connector if it was never changed, also there is a green clip that you need to remove before you can undo the connector.
When you install the new sensor, there is no special position when you slide it over the shaft but make sure the wire is on top and nested into the slot on the holder.

Can the steering wheel postion sensor be tested?

I'm thinking mine might be faulty as I'm noticing a change in the amount of power assist. It's the most noticeable going around a curve - holding the steering wheel steady in a turned position, then all of a sudden the resistance decreases and the wheel moves more. I've checked the tie rods and there seems to be no noticeable slop back and forth.

Any suggestions much appreciated. Joe.

Joed,
That is the exact symptom that will occur when the sensor goes bad.
Just replace the sensor and problem will go away.
