Hi,

I am trying to put a 6.5L to an originally 305 tbi gas engine 1992 truck.

I have this 94 6.5 with his 4l80e and transfer case, but I have no electronics (pump and transmission)which were stolen from the junkyard.

I also have the jet 700r4 from the original engine.

I want the less complicated set-up, I already got a mechanical pump for the 6.5, but I want to know if you can fit the 700r4 to the 6.5, bucause just by looking to the trannies, the torque converters are different and the flexplates too????, but everybody says that it is possible of doing.(6.5l with 700r4)

Because I live in the farest city in the world, (CHILE, South America)I have no service here.

Is it possible to have the 6.5L with mechanical pump, and my 700r4???

What is needed??

PLEASE HELP

Yes, but you will need a flexplate and a torque converter from an application that used a 6.2L and 700R4. Those are common combinations in vehicles from the mid 80's. If you find such a donor, you should also gather the control cables for the pump and the transmission.

Yep, you can convert it to work. The obvious stuff, you'll need a TV cable to operate the TH700, you can get one from a 6.2L diesel that was equipped with the 700. You'll need the TV cable bracket that mounts on the back of the engine and the cable itself as well as a rod the connected to the injection pump linkage. The flexplates are different, you just need a flexplate from a 700R4 that was mounted to a 6.2, it will mount to the 6.5L.

You will need to find a different way to power up the torque converter solenoid and this can be done easily and inexpensively. Find a wire at the brake/cruise switch that is powered until you step on the brake and lose power.(Converter unlocks with brake applied). Splice into this wire, and install a toggle switch and protect this circuit with a 5 amp fuse, and install switch conveniently on the dash. run a wire down to the 3 or 4 wire connector on trans. You will now have to look at a wiring manual to determine which wire needs to be powered up and which wire needs to be grounded ( there are many ways that GM did this) to a very good body or engine ground. the converter will not lock in 1st or reverse gears, but will lock in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. Tip: let trans do all it's shifting before locking torque converter. A shift kit would be good to install at this time.

You can use your 4L80E and a mechanical DB2 pump. GM made standalone computers for this setup. If yours is 2WD its very easy, 4X4 is a little tougher, but not too bad since the trans is out. You can contact me by email if you want more info.

Where can I buy the flexplate and the torque converter that would make the 6.5 and the 700r4 fit?

Can I obtain this parts from any other model different than mid 80s 6,2 diesels??

Does the flexplate and Converter from a 5.7 diesel with a th400 (I guess) fit?
