An update and thanks to everyone who gave input and advice on my recent turbo failure. My turbo arrived this afternoon and I finished up the job and have a great running Suburban again.

I ended up taking the air plenum off and wiping down its inside surface. There were little particles of compressor blades there. I then took a shop vac and stuck the hose down each of the intake runners and sucked out anything that was there.

I followed the breakin procedure for the turbo (as well as the pre lube procedure).

Everything is looking good. I dont seem to think that there was any damage to the engine itself.

Once again thanks for all the advice.

Great news, Brent. Lots of turbos fail in that manner, and are replaced without further incident. I'll bet you are good to go for another 100,000 miles or so!

Might want to do an oil change and sample just on the off chance there is circulating micro metal in oil system

Thanks for the oil change advice. I actually did one before I fired it up. Figured the a new turbo deserved fresh oil.
I will probably do one again this weekend.
