Mobil 1 Gear Oil ???

Went to buy gear oil for Front/rear Diff.

Mobil had to types synth. gear oil.

75/90 @ 9.00 75/140 @ 15.00

Any comments , 75/140 better?

Other makes Sync gear oil I should consider.

Amsoil Sever Gear 75W-90 unless you are towing heavy loads every day. $7.20 a quart and shipping for 4 to 6 quart is $6.70.

As far as I know, Mobile and Amsoil are the only REAL synthetics out there made for normal daily use. I think there are some racing synthetis but I don't know if they have longevity of the amsoil or mobile. I run the Amsoil 9000 in my truck now, but I have used the Mobile and liked it just as well.

Double check me but I think the 1 ton's full floating rear end takes the 75/140. My manual says 3/4 ton semi floating rear takes the 75/90 weight. Not sure about the front.

I like Mobil and have used it. Heard lots of good things about Amsoil.

One I think is GL4 other is GL5 rated. I think the higher the GL (Gear Lube?)number the more gear mesh load it can take before metal to metal contact but not sure about that.
