pyro problems

I installed a turbo 6.2 from old sub. to newer sub. I transfered the pyrometer from one to the other and it worked for about fifty miles and then quit. How does that thing work? It seems to bump up a little occasionally but I can not find any loose wires or any other obvious problems? Any ideas?

The two wires off a thermocouple is welded together at the front end inside the sheath so if you measure with a ohm meter it should read close to zero ohm. If you measure between the wires and the sheath the meter should read open circuit.
