I'll bite. :D

Here's one in Mason, TX before the turbo:
http://www.oliverdiesel.com/images/dpcontest/oliver-R1-18A.jpg

Towards the end of the trail, there's a sharp right turn that my long truck can't make, so the only other option is to go straight over these boulders. :D
http://www.oliverdiesel.com/images/Trips/TCC/TCC%201/oliver-R1-00A.jpg

Inspired by Dr. Lee's smokin' photo from when he had his old engine: This is after the turbo. ;)

PS: If I've omitted anything important, there are plenty of details on the spec sheet that's linked from my signature. Thanks.

I'll dig up some pics and add them to this post shortly, but what are the criteria for winning (i.e. What is the judging based on)?

The CUCV:

1987 M1028A3 Military "Shelter Carrier" Dually. 6.2 "J" engine, TH400, NP208, Dana 60 front w/ posi & manual hubs, Dana 70HD rear w/ Detroit Locker. 200-amp 24-volt charging system (Leece-Neville alternators). Lifting shackles, brush guard, skid-plates, etc. Still needs to be re-camouflaged...

Hi Guys,

Criteria for winning the contest will be based mostly on how photogenic your ride is. Secondarily, it'll be judged on improvements and/or modifications. Bikinis are worth 10 points! :D

Post your pics!

I don't have a pic of my truck online other than in webshots, which won't allow direct posting into this forum.

Any suggestions?

Casey

p.s. Jim, you wouldn't want to see me in a bikini! :D I don't think I'd gain any points that way! tongue.gif

Casey,
If posting the pic won't work, then you could always post the URL...

I tried posting your pic. It worked once, but I think that's because I was just at their site and it was in my browser cache....

This is the famous TTD Blazer, not much spectacle on the out side, even more on the inside.
It looks kinda old and dirty, well it is!
Uncle Sam didn't want it anymore and left it in Europe.
You see it here in it's natural habitat in mid winter, so no bikini's, sorry.

Hi Peter,

I moved your caption to under your photo, and deleted the extraneous posts. Your truck looks good!

But what we want to see is under the hood. How about a picture with two beautiful blonde Dutch girls in bikinis, each pointing to a turbocharger?

THAT would be a winning picture !!

Thanks for cleaning up the mess I left, I'm not a computer wizzard but luckily I know my way around diesels....

The good news is that Jim is gonna publish the article on the TTD that I wrote.

The bad news, it's winter now so I can't find the girls to pose in bikini's right now.
Can't the windmills be supstitute for the blondes?

I can arange for a blonde girl who is repainting my truck, interested? :D

I have since shot the truck with a new coat of gray rattle can paint. It's locked up and geared low, will crawl anywhere I care to go, and then some. Not pritty, but lots of fun.
The WhiteKnight web page is a cool offroading page that some of you might also be interested in... check it out, has some awesome 4-wheelin' videos. Enjoy... DieselCrawler

Click on the last line of my signature, and you will go to Sony's Imagestation. Sony wants people to buy their digital cameras, so hosts this free site for posting pictures. Surf around to find out where to join (for free) and upload your photos and arrange them in an album. Then you can right click on a picture you like, and follow the instructions in the "UBB Code is enabled" (http://forum.thedieselpage.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=ubb_code_page) link.

Good Luck !!

I need to find some time for better pictures, but here's a placeholder for now:
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid91/p3013d9cbe24fb2548b2efad3e2b41b9b/fa605c0c.jpg

This picture of my defrosting M1028, was taken at about 8500' elevation in the Sierra Nevada mountains, the dawn was just breaking and the temperature was 11F, the truck had cold soaked for about 11 hours. I keyed the glowplugs for 2 cycles and used just one 2 second crank to fire the trusty old warhorse up.

This truck obviously saw time in the desert - whether in the USA or Desert Storm, I can't say, but the amount of talcum powder fine sand that I keep finding as I dismantle, clean and replace components, bears mute testimony to it's history.

Goodies in my truck now include:

When you click on My Profile and go down to signature, just add some UBB code. Mine is

Fumes

Still working on the interior, it had t&g cedar boards in it, I took them out and resanding them and then will be staining and varnishing them. I also will be recovering the seats, there are 2 bench seats and the 2 captains seats. I might replace the captains seats, have to see how my budget holds out.

I have a 83 van that I would like to install a torbo on.
Dan
Ps your van looks great.

Fumes
12-25-2003, 14:57
The BanksTurbo came with a used motor I bought. It came out of a van also. Banks made a kit for GM Vans, not sure if they are still available though. The turbos were a bit smaller than the ones for trucks. The exhaust coming out of the turbo runs down the outside of the frame and then under the frame to the stock exhaust.

Here is my 1984 K30 Crewcab. After 200K+ miles I gave it a $24,000.00 thank you. It was silver with dark blue panels. Also it was a Scottsdale model. I added all electric windows, locks, mirrors, with an overhead console from a 1991 Suburban and I also used door panels from a 1991 Silverado. It was torned down to a bare cab and all seals/rubber replaced. Radiator, fan, complete engine rebuild( dual idler, ceramic coated piston tops, balanced, decked, piston height adjusted,), Banks Turbo System on a Hummer intake manifold, Turbo 400 rebuilt , added GearVendor, All springs reforged, new shocks, front end rebuilt, brakes complete. Not shown are the new stainless two piece full length running boards that are now installed and the Line-X bed liner.

gmctd, thanks for the complement. Where is your ride gone to? I looked again to see what the steering wheel looked like and it was gone. I had a lot more pictures of it torn down. It was funny seeing it without doors, bed, glass, front end. I even replaced the radiator support.

Hmmm... guess you can't see much of the st wheel. The ribbed look is a cover, replaceable if I have to drive it greasy.
