Who had high EGTs? Read this mebbe

So, I was pulling 4200# in my 15,500# MH and I blew one of the intake caps. Of course, I didn't know it at the time.

My EGTs went up over 300 degrees higher than normal (still safe), power was down, and boost was only in the 5-6 psi range.

It made me think about the fellow who was having very high EGTs just going down the highway - maybe his wastegate wasn't working right and letting too much pressure escape, thereby overfueling and running hot.

Just a thought.

Hmmmmm. I'll crawl around mine and see if somethings come uncapped. I can still manage to get 7-8 pounds of boost though. Truck has been sitting aand havn't had time to work on it. New penninsular pump and timing chain waiting to go in. Probably do injectors and glows as well.

I was pulling 5-7psi boost with my plug blown, just the EGTs were climbing into the yellow zone (for me).

I had high EGT's on a newly rebuilt Avant 6.2

Turned out they had set the pump up for a turbo running at sea level, mine is non-turbo here at 7,000 feet. A new pump solved the problem. Never gets above 600 now.
