Some off them around in South Africa. Did anybody put turbo's on them, how are the performance and fuel consumption and at what RPM is the peak torque?

Thanks for your reply

I believe peak torque was at 1600 rpm.

For more info, you might check out olds-diesel.com.

No kits available to put a turbo on the 4.3 V-6 diesel. Not enough of them made for anyone to spend the money to do a turbo kit. A few have probably done some one off turbo's for them. They were put on the smaller GM vehicles. Mileages in the low 30's are possible. With the right gearing and driving high 30's are probably attainable. Power was nothing to talk about, but the torque maintained the speed good once you were up there.

the guy that rebuilds my pumps had a 1985 olds 98 with a 4.3 and he said he could pull 40 mpg out of it.my 84 celebrity wagon,35mpg was the best i ever got.otherwise pretty constant 32-34.they are pretty tough engines as long as you have the cast iron heads, the alums were good for cracking.
