I think my turbo died today. It's a 94, 6.5. Had to keep turning up the radio. Realized there was a racket under the hood. Opened it up & heard schreeching from around the turbo. Put a screwdriver against it to pinpoint the noise. Pretty sure it's the turbo. Will check it out better tomorrow. Questions, 1. how bad is it to change? 2. Does anyone have a used one for sale? 3. Will I need to blow out the oil line to remove any metal? Any answers will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Joe

I have a used GM-4 that I would sell you cheap. It has little to no endplay - not sure of miles.
How does $50 + UPS ground shipping sound?

From the sounds of it, you may be close to having the turbo come apart. I wouldn't run the engine any more for fear of blowing broken parts down your intake.

Sounds tempting. Any idea what a rebuilt one goes for? Also any idea what it would cost to overnight it?
Thanks,
Joe

What's your ZIP code?

I just remembered that I have a Heath Turbo-Master boost controller for that turbo as well. I'll toss that in for another $20.

I want the turbo. My zip is 76085. I don't need the turbomaster, already got one.

If you will give me your phone # I will call you to finalize the deal.

Thanks,
Joe

Thanks for the offer. I pulled the old one off yesterday-not too difficult. Don't forsee any problems putting the new one on. The old one lasted 230,000 miles.

Call me this morning, and I'll get it out to you ASAP. I have one logistics hurdle - its stored at a buddy's garage and I have to get ahold of him before I can pick it up. I'll try my best to get it out overnight to you today.

You might consider installing new fuel injectors and/or glow plugs at this time, since you have the turbo off already.
