I'm swapping a '81 rebuilt "J" engine into a "91 suburban that had a "C" engine. I have a few issues with the vacuum system to figure out still. Could someone fax or e-mail me a jpeg of the vacuum diagram for the '81 6.2 "J" engine so I don't have to buy a manual. I'm going to be selling it soon. Thanks, Terry

I'm thinking you mean a 1982 6.2L.I don't think the 6.2 was offered in 1981........i could be wrong though........i believe i have the diagram your looking for.......

Diesel Injection Service has just the pods. DIS sells new pods for the 6.2 (the 6.2 was built in 81 but is an 82 model as the introduction). I think they are around 80 bucks for a new pod.

They have them on their page, or call the number on the page:

Pretty funny, John. I think he needs a DIAGRAM, not a diaphram smile.gif

I have a diagram (I swear it's here somewhere). I'll try to find it.

There is really nothing to the vacuum routing. Only difference between the two would be EGR (the J doesn't have it). You should be able to figure it out by sight. '91 did have vacuum operated HVAC, so that will be about the same.

Yes, I mean diaGram not diaPHragm.
Ha! Ha!

Vacuum routes from the pump thru the pass side firewall for the HVAC system.
Tee'd for the cruise diaPHRAGM and the VRV on the Inj Pump for the T350 or T400 automatic. That's it for the "J".

'91 "C" would have had EGR on the intake and EFE on the exhaust manifold, in addition to the above "J" routing.

Install '91 CDR system on the '82 for trouble-free operation. (Lose the Rube Goldberg '82 system).
