Howdy,

Like several others here, I'm looking seriously at moving to at least a biodiesel blend, if not full B100 in my 6.2s.

Does anyone have a source for Viton replacement fuel and injector return lines?

TIA,

--Duncan

Around in my neck of the woods, I can get the hose from some local farming hose distributors. So you might call around to some farming places that carry hose used for chemical spraying.

Great links! Thanks! I'm thinking seriously about spending the extra $$ when I build my fuel system so that I can go with higher blends. Now I just have to figure out what to do about my poly fuel tank.

That stuff is spendy! Try using steel, SS, or aluminum tubing where ever you can to minimize the need for the hose. If you are handy with tubing and a bender, you can eliminate all but a couple feet. Teflon hose can also be used. Not sure about silicone, but it could be a possibility.

Hey Duncan:

I looked a long time to find Viton that would work for the injector return lines. The replacement hose available from the diesel parts suppliers (you know, the standard kit) would last like two weeks before beginning to soften with B100.

Mcmaster -Carr sells Viton tubing by the foot in a variety of sizes. I ended up using one of the metric sizes that was just a teensy bit smaller than the diameter of the nipples on the injectors - I don't remember the exact size, but you can easily deduce it by measuring your injectors. The trick is to go with the SOFTER Viton - it's a bit counterintuitive at first, until you try the harder grade and all the lines crack where they stretch over the wide part of the nipples.

That was UGLY :(

The softer stuff has held up for two years now and still no leaks.

As far as the other fuel lines go, there is a marine hose called "Barrier" hose made by Trident Marine. It is carried by marine stores and the price is very reasonable - and it's available in all the usual sizes. A lot of Bio-D boat guys use it (and on a boat, you REALLY want it to hold up reliably!)

Good Luck!
