Anyone know the O.D. of the rear frame shackles on the CUCV M1028 and M1008s? They have the 3950lb 14 bolt FF axle. I'm getting new polyurethane bushes and would prefer not to have disassemble them yet without the replacements, as my existing bushings look as if they will disintegrate if I do.

The options are 1 3/4", 1 1/2" and 1 3/8".

That's a good question, and I don't think that I can answer it with any certainty. Register, and post on the ORD forum at ColoradoK5.com. Stephen answers most everything that comes up.

Thanks DieselBoy! I went over the back end again and found the bush projected more on the driver's side. If I measure what looks like a steel insert surrounding the bush in the spring eye, I get 1 1/2" and about the same for the perished rubber I can measure in the bottom of the shackle.

This smells like a 1 1/2" bushing set up to me.

DieselBoy thanks for the ORD forum link; I posted a message over there asking for confirmation of the bushing size.

No problem. That steel sleeve sure is a lot of fun to pound out when you convert over to poly bushings.

I recommend one of two combinations:
hammer, cold chizel, drift, lots of patience

...OR...

air hammer, various attatchments, less patience. :D
