Greetings,

I checked codes today on my 1991 6.2 J and code 22 "TPS low voltage" came up. While removing and replacing the TPS looks bone simple, the adjustment procedure requires a "J 33043-A Guage Block Set".

Is there any other way of doing this procedure, or must I use the special tool? If so I suppose it's a GM only item, right?

Anything in particular to look out for when adjusting the TPS?

TIA for any and all replies/suggestions/pointers, etc..

Here's what I would do....

Scribe a line around the fasteners that hold the original TPS onto the fuel injection pump, then bolt the new one on using the exact same orientation. This should be very close to where it should be set.

The 700R4 TPS is used more to let the transmission know when your accelerator pedal is within a few degrees of idle and wide-open, so it can unlock the TC at those positions.
