Without going through the hassle of finding a vehicle scale, I was wondering if anyone has taken the time to find out the empty weight of their suburban. I may need to tow my 82 to Ohio, using my 99, and U-haul has a prohibition of towing anything over 3,900 pounds.

My 1984 diesel SUB weighs about 6700 LBS, with me (275 LBS) and a couple hundred pound of "junque" in it.

Are you talking complete, or minus the powertrain?

I don't know anyone that follows Uhaul's rules, but your rig is going to exceed the weight limit considerably, by at least 1000 pounds. More if it's really dirty. My Blazer weighs about 5000 pounds with me and a tank of fuel, and the Sub is heavier.

My 99 K2500 just weighted in at 6450 empty, without me, and about 1/4 tank of fuel.
